OUR MERINO FLOCK
Our Merino flock is considered among the best in Uruguay thanks to its genetic and wool quality.
However, we are constantly improving and maintaining our first class genetics. With each new lamb that is born, we evaluate its contribution to the future of the flock in terms of genetics and wool quality, and we only keep the best so that their selected genes are transferred to the following generations.
We do this by using different tools, such as wool traits measurements in the laboratory and selection criteria from Merino specialists. This way we filter and preserve only the best Merino wool and race features.
We care about the welfare of our sheep, we raise them in open fields, letting them wander through the fields and exposed to nature to have naturally resistant and healthy animals.
That is why we look for a complete and strong animal, and by this we mean sheep that are resistant to disease, large body, good parenting attributes (mothers), good general structure (body composition) and, of course, with the best wool.
The wool that our sheep produce is easily described as Italian Style wool, that is, a fine wool characterized by its fine crimp structure and softness to the touch, with pure white colors and little or no itchiness.
